The fixed Environment file stores a shared variable list with a value for each named environment.
Property: Path · Current behavior: settings/environment
Property: Default · Current behavior: protected root DEV environment
Property: Workspace · Current behavior: variable rows × environment columns
Property: New variable · Current behavior: uppercase UNTITLED, currently String
Property: MCP · Current behavior: read/manage variables, values, and environments
Property: Result · Current behavior: generated environment types/values
Add, rename, and delete variables; add, rename, and delete non-default environments; edit each variable value per environment. Names normalize to uppercase.
The UI displays String/Number/Object datatype choices, but they currently share an ID and have no change handler. Treat variable-type editing as unfinished; new variables are String.
Use get-environment, variable add/set/delete, and environment add/rename/delete operations with current IDs. MCP refuses renaming and deleting the root DEV environment. The UI hides DEV deletion but currently allows its name field to be edited; do not rely on that mismatch as supported behavior.
Definitions/values persist and are undoable in the file model. Do not store a secret merely because it is environment-specific; verify what the generated client exposes.
