Themes file

The fixed Themes file defines named contexts used by theme-aware token cells; the values themselves remain in their owning token files.

  • Property: Path · Current behavior: design-system/themes

  • Property: Default · Current behavior: protected Default theme at /

  • Property: Actions · Current behavior: add, select, edit path/name, duplicate, delete non-default

  • Property: Themed values · Current behavior: Semantic Colors, Font Templates, Image Templates

  • Property: MCP · Current behavior: add/update/duplicate/delete theme plus design-system reads

  • Property: View state · Current behavior: selected theme is not token content

Features

A Theme row stores identity metadata. Semantic color cells and Font/Image Template cells store their values keyed by theme/layer in those files. Primitive/Alias Colors, Font/Image Types, Radius, Spacing, Audio, and Video are not theme-specific.

MCP, Undo, and limits

Use the themes-file-* operations and design-system-get. The Default theme cannot be handled like an ordinary deletable item. Deleting or changing a theme affects resolution of theme-keyed values and must use model cleanup.

Theme identity operations persist and are undoable. Verify affected Components in every surviving theme and inspect generated theme output before shipping.
